Alys Robi / Diva - CD
Diva is Alys Robi's first album of unreleased songs. Alys Robi, Quebec's first star and pioneer of world music and the Latin repertoire: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico. She influenced Diane Dufresne and Isabelle Boulay. Recently Arielle Dombasle released an album which takes up the repertoire always defended by Alys Robi. The diva performs ballads from the repertoire of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. She sings Frank Sinatra hits I'll Be Seeing You, You and I, a Kurt Weill classic Speak Low , a song from blues and R&B Goodnight, Wherever You Are. We also find on the album three instrumental pieces of the big band of Lucio Agostini – the legendary arranger and conductor of Alys Robi. A first! The CD is accompanied by a well-documented 24-page booklet, including rare photos, which explores the context of the recording sessions and the origins of the Diva 's repertoire .
