Anamorph / Anamorphosis (Bilingual)
Format: NTSC
Release Date: 07-10-2008
Details: A psychological thriller based on the concept of anamorphosis, a painting technique that manipulates the laws of perspective to create two competing images on a single canvas. ----- An investigation puts Stan (Willem Dafoe), a New York policeman, on the heels of a mysterious killer who dismembers his victims and leaves the mutilated bodies in strange, highly stylized poses. Seeking to decode these poses, Stan consults an art historian who teaches him that the theory of anamorphosis, stemming from the Renaissance, makes it possible to break flat perspective and to integrate into paintings images that cannot be recognize only by looking at them from a specific angle or with the aid of an optical system, such as a curved mirror. Realizing that this is how the killer works, Stan searches for the hidden meaning of these murders and then crosses paths with an old unsolved case that has always haunted him. At the end of a game of cat and mouse between Stan and the assassin, the latter is killed by the police, but it is already too late for Stan.
