Details: Product Description Roommates, The Amazon.ca Atrocetomique, the generous second album of Dédé Fortin's group, well known for its sense of celebration and its excess, is made up of original pieces and songs recorded live. Les Colocs always give in to sardonic prose and irresistibly danceable music. "Bon yeu", "On va crecrer en attendant l'été (ou l'hiver)" and "La P'tite bebitte" are ironic and hard-hitting chronicles of an overwhelming daily life. The music, however, is in no way depressing, thanks to Serge Robert (alias Mononc'Serge) on bass, Jimmy Bourgoing on drums, Guy Bélanger on harmonica, a frenzied brass section and the strong achievement of Fortin. Anyone who has had the chance to see these merry men in concert knows that the group gives the best of themselves on stage, as evidenced by the portion live from the disc. "Dédé", "Julie" and "La Rue principal", successes from the first album, are here fleshed out and rendered with an unusual ardour. As a bonus, "The Arsenic Pudding", taken from the animated film Asterix and Cleopatra, makes you laugh; the covers of Ferrer and Vian suit them just as well. Atrocetomique is the perfect antidote to the ambient gloom. -- Diana John
