Details: Product Description Deschamps, Yvon Amazon.ca Some 30 years after his debut, Yvon Deschamps presented a new show on Quebec stages in 1999. His performance at the Manoir Rouville-Campbell was immortalized on this album. The comedian offers some "classics" from his repertoire like "L'Ado," "Les Filles," or "Dans ma cour." However, he favors novelty by presenting, with his characteristic verve and vivacity, a dozen new monologues. Deschamps reflects on the impasse of the national question, observes the Olympic Games with a critical eye, and, in the persona of someone living on welfare, analyzes the repercussions of globalization and the economic discourse of governments. Highly relevant, this batch of monologues, for which Deschamps received a Félix award, suffers slightly from the absence of musical interludes and the tenderness typical of the comedian's previous shows. But boredom is never part of the equation, and the high quality of the monologues is enough to forgive these small shortcomings. --Nicolas Houle
