Amazon.ca For this 1986 album, Eric Clapton surrounded himself with a host of prestigious artists. In addition to keyboardist Greg Phillinganes and bassist Nathan East, one must mention Phil Collins (who is also co-producer with Tom Dowd), Gary Brooker (former leader of Procol Harum), and Tina Turner, who duets with the handsome Eric on "Tearing Us Apart." The names of the songwriters also speak for themselves: Lamont Dozier for "Run" and "Hung Up On Your Love," Robert Cray for "Bad Influence," Robbie Robertson for "It's In The Way That You Use It," and even Stephen Bishop for "Holy Mother." In a word August is the album with which Clapton, determined once again to battle it out, returned to the spotlight and won over the young MTV audience. --Philippe Margotin
