Details: Six years after La Sauvagerie des heures, a gripping and noticed first maxi, Bateau Noir returns with a homonymous album bringing together ten abrasive instrumental pieces. With its melodic lines carried by the guitar, its martial percussions and its frenetic riffs, the ensemble produced by the quintet pushes back all forms of boundaries. There are “indie” influences, a punk ardor and a few metal hooks. If the distant traces of Fugazi and Joy Division appear here and there, the result is mainly translated by a sinuous and rigorous rock, dense and hard-hitting compositions. Thought out in 2010, this album was born in Montreal under the good eye of Jocelyn Gagné (Breastfeeders) and Julien Mineau (Malajube, Fontarabie) on sound recordings, then was mixed by Ryan Battistuzzi, henchman behind the album Illusion of Malajube.
