A collection of songs written and composed by Daphné Brissette (Canailles) and Guillaume Chiasson (Ponctuation), then enriched through group collaboration (completed by Étienne Côté, Mélissa Fortin, and Alex Burger), the self-titled debut album by Bon Enfant was recorded live at Breakglass in April 2019. Produced and co-mixed (with input from Guillaume Chiasson) by Tonio Morin-Vargas (Bernard Adamus), with sound engineering by Francis Bélanger Lacas (Timber Timbre, Corridor), Bon Enfant (the record) is a sequence of tracks whose coherence stems from hard work and refinement: an anthology of Québécois pop with upbeat grooves, accented by tie-dye textures, Anatolian disco, Saharan rock, and vibrant Nancy Sinatra-esque melodies, with a particular focus on tone.
Songs in unmistakable French, but hairy French—like Molière with a beard. Songs that chat about relationships and changes, the mundane and not-so-mundane daily life, marked by shared interests in medieval fantasy and wine. A true sensory buffet for your ears.
