Amazon.ca Favorites of CEGEP students and other tireless young revelers, Les Cowboys Fringants are doing it again! With its uplifting music and cheerfully engaging lyrics, the aptly named Break syndical, the group's third release, establishes a boozy atmosphere. We are thinking of course of the Colocs, but also of Beau Dommage and a panoply of Quebec groups such as Les Frères à ch'val and the Henri Band. The frenzied violin of the multi-instrumentalist Marie-Annick Lépine nevertheless gives a distinctive sound to the ensemble and the sharp pen of JF Pauzé, who signs most of the texts, is very relevant. The man dissects the worries of a generation that is out of humor or causes to defend, as evidenced by "At half mast" and "The Manifestation". "Heavy metal" and "À' polyvalente" are curiously nostalgic for an adolescence that seems to stretch for this group from the Lanaudière region. We have nothing against eternal youth, on the other hand, especially when it gives ants in the legs! -- Diana John
