With their rousing music and joyfully committed lyrics, the aptly named Break syndical, the group’s third release, establishes a boozy atmosphere. One naturally thinks of Les Colocs, but also of Beau Dommage and a host of Quebec groups like Les Frères à ch'val and the Henri Band. The fiery violin of multi-instrumentalist Marie-Annick Lépine, however, gives the whole thing a distinctive sound, and the sharp pen of JF Pauzé, who wrote most of the lyrics, is very relevant. The man dissects the worries of a generation that is neither short on humor nor on causes to defend, as evidenced by "En berne" and "La Manifestation." "Heavy métal" and "À l'polyvalente" are curiously nostalgic for an adolescence that seems to stretch on for this group from the Lanaudière region.
