Released on the label that Voisine created, RV International, this seventh album reveals the new concerns of the idol of a generation that has aged. The handsome Roch has also taken the lead, and that's good. His velvety, cracking crooner voice is still just as inviting, but the themes are more assertive, more mature. “A simple guy” presents a man “grown up in snow and wood, without murderous phrases”. We are far from “Hélène” and the teenage ballads of the beginnings. Directed by Erick Benzi, who notably collaborated with Céline Dion, the album includes its share of assured hits like “I will stay there” and “Obia”, but the slightly overrated melodies lack warmth and authenticity.
