Author: AIR & BARICCO
Details: Amazon.ca This new album by the Parisian duo is a logical continuation of the show the group gave in Rome in November 2002. This performance was built around a reading aloud by actors from the book of Italian writer Alessandra Baricco: City. The music of Air then accompanied this story of western in three parts, with for instruments a guitar and a keyboard, the rhythms being banished. The content of this disc therefore risks confusing more than one fan of the first hour as the project mainly highlights Baricco's readings (solo), which leaves little space for the instrumental parts. Atmospheric, foggy, haughty, experimental, City Reading mixes very well synthetic and acoustic textures and, if we sometimes think of the soundtrack of The Virgin Suicide, the result, here, is frankly not of the same ilk. For fans of the duo and curious minds. --Laurent Gilot Product description Ambitious 2003 poetry collaboration with Italian writer Alessandro Baricco! Readings of his own material, with the French duo providing the exclusive score. Produced by Nigel Godrich.
