BIOGRAPHY
Claude Cormier grew up by the sea, in that corner of paradise known as the Magdalen Islands. A fisherman by trade, the thirty-something has been fascinated by music for many tides now: he has racked up 10 years of touring and studio work across 5 self-produced albums. Claude Cormier writes about everyday events and sings them beautifully.
In 2008, the singer-songwriter was doubly honored at the St-Tite Western Festival when his song "Un meilleur lendemain" won first prize in the Radio-Canada Galaxie Star Competition (Folk/Rock category) in addition to receiving the SOCAN award for the winning song.
A guest on the shows "Pour l'amour du country" and "Tout le monde à bord!", the man who describes himself as "a singer, a guitar player" has been able to rub shoulders with his influences: Patrick Normand and Ronald Bourgeois. Far from hiding away, isolated on his wonderful Islands, Claude Cormier produces and directs numerous shows annually in the Magdalen Islands, Quebec, New Brunswick, and France.
Following the success of his previous albums, this "good-family bum" returns with an album of pure simplicity: "Claude Cormier - Acoustique." A folk-flavored rendezvous with a touch of Acadian warmth and that insular poetry characteristic of the Madelinots! On the song "Mon hockey," Claude Cormier is accompanied by Suroît.
