Details: String quintets are an essential part of Dvorak's chamber work. He composed most of these works when he himself was a regular violist in the orchestra of the Czech Provisional Theater in Prague. Most of these quintets (in E flat, in G major, in A minor) reveal a very perfect science of writing. A real revival of the Czech chamber music school, with themes that sometimes resemble the writing of the "American" quartet, by the same author, also written at that time. --Eric Frank
