Details: Coming from the English punk wave of the second half of the 1970s, the Damned hit very hard from their first album, released in 1977. With Damned Damned Damned , now reissued (with its original cover), Captain Sensible, Dave Vanian, Brian James and Rat Scabies, on a demonic tempo, displayed their disgust with society, at the same time as they revealed a sense of humor that was not necessarily found in other bands of the genre. Produced by Nick Lowe, an emblematic figure of pub rock who had become the right arm of Jake Riviera from Stiff Records, Damned Damned Damned met with great popular success upon its release, to the point of having been the first punk album to know the chart honors. A success that Captain Sensible and his family did not expect, but which, in reality, was explained by the libertarian energy of titles such as "New Rose" (the group's first single), "Neat Neat Neat" and "I Feel Alright" (from the essential Stooges). In short, Damned Damned Damned is an album to listen to again or to discover! --Philippe Margotin
