Details: Amazon.ca Daniel Lemire occupies a special place in the world of Quebec humor. Discreet to the point of spacing out his shows, he knew how to make each of his appearances memorable moments. His characters with sometimes scathing repartee, like Uncle George, a friend of children in spite of himself, Ronnie, the eternal hippie, or the Crooner, of dubious talent, are among the favorites of the public. Even if it does not include the comedian's interesting monologues on current events, too frozen in time, 20 years of humor: 1982-2002 allows us to take the pulse of Lemire's career through some twenty sketches. The DVD edition has five additional issues, some advertisements, as well as the artist's comments on his work. Here is a retrospective of the most relevant. The problem is that the post-production work is pitiful: no attempt has been made to polish the quality of the archive footage so that it forms a coherent whole, the transitions between the sketches are abrupt and the sound quality leaves something to be desired. If these technical shortcomings taint the pleasure of listening, we are still happy to reconnect with the characters of Lemire and with this caustic humor which is specific to him. --Nicolas Houle
