Details: Amazon.ca Recorded in 1995 at Richard Séguin’s country house in the Appalachians, D’instinct breathes nature and authenticity. The cover art, which reproduces the artist's superb engravings, the predominance of acoustic instrumentation—particularly guitars—the warm sound recording, and the Amerindian accents in the introduction and on "Son des songes" all serve to reinforce this effect. However, Séguin does not turn his back on the blues, urban life, or electric guitars. In well-crafted lyrics, he takes a few shots at capitalism in "Un air de Guthrie," lets Réjean Bouchard’s impressive slide guitar playing shine on "Rien ne sera plus comme avant," and moves us with "Lettre à Zlata," dedicated to young Zlata Filipović, who kept a diary during the war in Sarajevo. Enhanced by the essential tracks "Rester debout," "En cherchant son étoile," and "Le Blues de la rue," D’instinct is a high point in Richard Séguin’s career, the result of meticulous—but never laborious—work that the singer delivers with evident naturalness and pleasure. --Nicolas Houle Product Description Seguin, Richard
