Annie Major-Matte / Dissidence - CD (Used)
Author: Major-Matte, Annie
Details: Known for having played Daphne in Le Club des 100 watts , Marie-Ange in Les Filles de Caleb and Léa in Frimousse , Annie Major-Matte has decided to make the leap from the small screen to music with Dissidence . Don't be fooled by its title, the artist's first album offers nothing that goes against market trends, bringing together 14 pop songs with sometimes rock accents ("All or nothing "), funk ("Le Café") or even jazzy ("Baby Lilly").
Major-Matte, who co-signs most of the pieces with director Tino Izzo and former The Box frontman Jean-Marc Pisapia, does quite well when it comes to energetic pop: her vocal lines are well delivered , his texts, which are often interested in the couple, assumed ("You can dispose/Your breathing has calmed down"). It is quite different when she sings her ballads, with syrupy arrangements and conventional lyrics, which quickly betray the limits of her voice. Dissidence is therefore an unequal album, which has its best moments at the start of its journey, in particular on the effective "Feu de paille", which easily slipped into the top 10. -- Nicolas Houle
