As the title telegraphs, the 11-track program is entirely devoted to the blues, and those admirers of Smith's more lyrical and more sophisticated work (eg The Cat and the albums with Wes Montgomery) might find it a touch remorseless at times. That said, the organist's enterprise never flags and the 60 minutes swing prodigiously. Highlights include a superb reading of "CC Rider" which adds guitarist Russell Malone to the core trio, BB King on "Three O'Clock Blues" and Etta James reprising her hit "I Just Wanna Make Love To You", expertly filigreed by Smith . This CD may have its limitations, but it's a highly enjoyable hour of good-time music. Smith always delivers, and Dot Com Blues is no exception. -- Richard Palmer
