Details: Product Description Charlebois, Robert Amazon.ca Abandoning the rock and expansive orchestrations that characterized his music throughout the 90s, Robert Charlebois delivers an unpretentious country folk album here. For the first time since his very first record, the singer acts as author and composer for almost the entirety of his album. He thus signs a dozen simple and authentic songs, as well as a musical adaptation of a poem by W.H. Auden and a very loose cover of Sinatra's "It Was a Very Good Year." Rather than attempting to recreate the magic of the past, Charlebois focuses on discovering that of the present and creates one of his most consistent albums here, revealing songwriting talents and musical sobriety that he was little known for. A deeply human album where lightness does not eclipse intensity, Doux Sauvage presents a Charlebois in full mastery of his art. -- Nicolas Houle
