Details: The fall of 2016 will finally mark the return of Avec pas d’casque after a long silence. Four years after the release of Astronomie, the band is back with Effets spéciaux, their 4th album. Astronomie was an album unanimously acclaimed by critics and peers alike at the 2012 ADISQ awards: Félix for Album of the Year – Critic's Choice, Songwriter of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. At the 2012 GAMIQ awards, they won Folk Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. In a 10-year career, the group's sales have totaled over 25,000 copies. Effets spéciaux promises, nonetheless, to be the most accomplished and luminous work from the group. A Quebec tour will begin in September and continue until the end of 2017. The quartet, consisting of Stéphane Lafleur (also director of the films Continental, a film without guns, Known Affections, and Tu dors Nicole), Joël Vaudreuil, Nicolas Moussette, and Mathieu Charbonneau, reconnects here with several faithful collaborators, such as Simon Trottier (Timber Timbre) on electric guitar, Maxime Veilleux (Cheval fou, Le Trouble) on congas, and Benoit Paradis (Benoit Paradis Trio and Bernard Adamus) on trombone. Without moving away from the characteristic sound that defines their personality, Avec pas de casque demonstrates once again that the limits of their sandbox are still, and always, to be redefined.
