Details: Amazon.ca At the end of Elvis Gratton, one of the first cult films of Quebec cinema, Elvis died of a heart attack and was resurrected en route to the cemetery. Elvis Gratton: Miracle in Memphis tells what miracles the "King of Kings" is now capable of... Elvis, who manages to revive a dying man in the hospital where he is staying, becomes the star of the hour. Immediately, an American impresario offers to take charge of him and make him a world superstar, which is not to displease the garage imitator of the King. Elvis Gratton begins to sing his own hits, goes on an international tour, shines with a thousand lights in all possible fields and finds himself at the head of an empire. If the social responsibility of Pierre Falardeau is still felt in Miracle in Memphis, his ammunition proves to be less explosive than in the first part of the adventures of Elvis. This time it pays squarely into fat comedy to the detriment of the satirical potential of certain situations. Strangely, the film, which focuses on the international career of its hero, is full of local references, much less universal keys than in the original Elvis Gratton. It remains that this sequel fully meets the expectations of lovers of effective antics. --Anne-Marie Cloutier
