O negative blood type, a universal donor full of promise, Émile Bilodeau is a great optimist and, let’s not be afraid to say it, a rare phenomenon. At barely 20 years old, it is nothing but fresh blood that flows through his veins.

Named a finalist at the Festival de la chanson de Granby in 2014 and winner of several awards, including Best Stage Presence and the Audience Choice Award, he also won the audience award at the Festival de la chanson de Saint-Ambroise the same year. He was subsequently named winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cabaret Festif de Baie-Saint-Paul in 2015 and was a finalist at the Francouvertes in 2015.

Armed with a refreshing nonchalance, Émile Bilodeau carries his contagious excitement onto the stage. His insolent charisma and irresistible candor naturally transport him to all four corners of the province, from the Festival d’été de Québec to the FrancoFolies de Montréal, where he never fails to thrill the crowds. After countless Thursday afternoons spent working with his mentor, the valiant Philippe B, Émile Bilodeau is getting ready to present his very first album. What he describes as a rite of passage between adolescence and adulthood will be released in the fall of 2016.

With his unique folk style—at times comical, at times imbued with great sensitivity—and his committed, slightly ingenuous vision of the world around him, Émile Bilodeau establishes himself as the standard-bearer of a superb frenzy of renewal.
