Details: Product Description Laurence Jalbert Amazon.ca Four years after Avant le squall, …et j’espère marks a turning point in Laurence Jalbert's career. For the first time, the singer interprets the work of others, performing lyrics by various authors including Serge Lama and Nelson Minville. Without losing any depth, her musical universe is lightened; the torments and distress that were characteristic of her repertoire give way to the hope of a certain happiness, whether intimate or contemplative. Musically, we find the same folk-rock influences. The singer allows herself a heartfelt blues track with Nanette Workman on "In the Twilight," as well as a country cover of Michel Pagliaro's "What the Hell I got." Despite the weakness of some arrangements where strings and drum machines coexist poorly with acoustic guitars, it remains the case that …et j’espère is undoubtedly Laurence Jalbert's most balanced album: passion, tenderness, and serenity are in perfect symbiosis here. -- Nicolas Houle
