A child of the 90s, Etienne Dufresne grew up mainly between the shores of Victoriaville and Magog. Born into a music-loving family, with a musician father for whom progressive rock was the musical gospel, he taught himself guitar, perhaps in hopes of earning his father's pride. Dufresne eventually emancipated himself from the artistic and familial cocoon at a time when things were not going well for him. Unemployed after a series of heartbreaks and professional failures, he abandoned the idea of having to produce what was expected of him, after which he took a more experimental and personal creative path. His songs were thus born first for himself, out of an urgent need to express himself. He initially composed tracks on acoustic guitar before layering complete orchestrations on his computer in his bedroom.
It is under the Chivi Chivi label that Etienne Dufresne will present Sainte-Colère in February, his first EP of 7 tracks with diverse influences. This bedroom rock epic reflects his inspirations at the crossroads of Mac DeMarco, Genesis, Beau Dommage, and BadBadNotGood.
