Details: The Nixons are one of the few bands hailing from Norman/Oklahoma City, but the foursome has nothing in common with the twisted psychedelia of the Flaming Lips or the transvestite punk of the Chainsaw Kittens. Its debut, Foma, is soulless, generic grunge. The album takes its title from author Kurt Vonnegut's phrase for meaningless lies that people live with to make themselves feel better-appropriate for a band that, given a different commercial environment, would probably sound like Poison. --Jim DeRogatis
