Details: Product Description d'Amour, France Amazon.ca Ever-present in France since her participation in Notre-Dame de Paris, France D’Amour has surrounded herself, on this fifth album, with a high-caliber French team, notably including brothers Jean-Jacques and Robert Goldman. These collaborations have had a decisive effect on the singer's sound and musical approach: she displays a restraint here that we were hardly familiar with, sings lyrics lacking in depth, opts for conventional arrangements, and even tries her hand at Mylène Farmer-style pop. In short, she moves away from her pop-rock roots to favor French variety, where the dictates of radio format outweigh the quality of the content. While she occasionally manages to move us in this new sound environment, the fact remains that fans of the rocker from Animal, who seduced with her energy, or the folk singer of Nomade, who touched with her authenticity, will invariably be disappointed. --Nicolas Houle
