Details: Amazon.ca Canadian violinist James Ehnes excels at making the violin sing as only a few great masters of the instrument can. It took nothing less to make us fully appreciate the somewhat dated content of this French Concert. It includes Saint-Saëns' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso," Chausson's "Poème," Milhaud's "Le Bœuf sur le toit" (Cinéma-Fantaisie), and Massenet's "Méditation." Thanks to a flawless technique, the musician succeeds in conveying the complex musicality of this virtuosic repertoire. The precision of the sound, the delicacy of the tone, and the exquisite phrasing are coupled here with effects that are always relevant and that confidence characteristic of the greatest performers. The Quebec Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Yoav Talmi, provides the ideal setting for this prodigy's playing. --Dominique Olivier Product Description Ehnes, James
