The Live DVD at Bercy, which presents a selection of 18 songs, takes us back to these special evenings and, despite some technical irritants, will delight fans. Garou is in great shape there: even if he does not always know how to occupy the vast stage, he has enough charisma to magnetize the crowd, playing alternately with smiles and success (“Sous le vent” with Céline Dion, “ Gypsy”, “Alone”, “That love is violent”, “The world is stoned”). The DVD also contains a large amount of exclusive supplements: four duets, including a heartfelt version of "Belle" with Fiori and Lavoie, a look behind the scenes, a short documentary on the making of the album Seul, the five first music videos of the singer, a biography, etc. Although the image is too contrasting, the soundtrack does not render the spontaneity of the moment badly and the post-production work, with its frozen, stretched or split images, is debatable, Live à Bercy is a generous DVD, which allows to judge the extent of these shows and to retrace Garou's career since the recording of his first album. --Nicolas Houle
