Details: Produced by CHARLIE WINSTON, Géant is a liberated album, on which Saule lets go and finally finds his way, unique and original, but also his voice, sublime and bewitching. Willow has already released two very successful albums which have secured her a place in the hearts of the public. But "Géant" is a new beginning, a breath of fresh air that pulls the singer out of the somewhat confined atmosphere of the "new French song" to see him explore new territories, at the confluence of two cultures that ignore each other. too often: the Anglo-Saxon rock of his first adolescent musical loves (Jeff Buckley, Radiohead) and the quality song in which he has been immersed since his earliest childhood (Brassens, Gainsbourg). The album, recorded in a studio in western Paris, La Frette, with the participation of Ché, English drummer, and Thomas Semence, guitarist that everyone is tearing up (Aubert, Raphael, Keren Ann), is an incredible wealth, almost inexhaustible. From the first title, "Home Sweet Home", of an absolute sweetness where Saule's voice touches heights rarely reached since the disappearance of his hero, Jeff Buckley, to the last, "Vieux", of a crushing melancholy, the sounds intertwine and follow each other in a breathtaking way. Saule's humor is always present, as on the ambivalent "Singer Bio", which combines English riff and caustic text, or on "Type normal", a future hit with an obvious melody, a marvel of self-mockery. on the absolute banality of the singer's life... On "Le Bon Gros Géant", the laughter turns yellow, and the tender and acid self-portrait, avoiding pure settling of scores, turns to an apology for difference, whatever whether. Elsewhere, the vein is more dreamy, as on "Rien que pour soi" or "Just a Song", magnificent and disturbing, carried by a pure and light voice. Saule even dares to embark on an a cappella passage of great beauty (Buckley again…), and something rare here, he has the means, like illustrious elders like Polnareff or Christophe. The richness of the album is finally perfectly illustrated by a tragic and moving song on amorous wear and tear, "The inventory of our love", sent, and therein lies all its originality, against a backdrop of implacable and breathless rock. Without seeming to touch it, Saule has just produced a major work and brings a nice current of fresh air into our French song. This boy has not finished talking about him, this first step of Giant is the proof.
