Details: Amazon.ca Dismissed by many fans--as well as bassist-vocalist Geddy Lee--as a "disappointment," Rush's 1984 disc Grace Under Pressure is the sound of a traditional prog rock band coming to terms with emerging technology and Regan-era paranoia. The Toronto threesome's sound is still immediately identifiable, dominated by Neil Peart's cryptic lyrics and technically dazzling power trio jams that break off suddenly into drum breaks and New Age keyboard solos. The difference this time out is the liberal use of piercing early-'80s synths that infuriated fans looking for more guitar overload, as well as the clumsy cold war metaphors that pop up in songs like "Distant Early Warning" and "Red Sector A." It's questionable how the then-futuristic sound and lyrics about "war machines" in "The Body Electric" hold up almost 20 years later, but Rush has never really been about timeliness, has it? --Matt Galloway Product Description This re-release features 20-bit digital remastering from the original master tapes and deluxe packaging faithful to the original album release. Track listing: "Distant Early Warning," "Afterimage," "Red Sector A," "The Enemy Within," "The Body Electric," "Kid Gloves," "Red Lenses" and "Between the Wheels."
