Harmonium XLV: 45th Anniversary

A remastered and remixed version of the legendary group's debut album!

Harmonium, one of the most important Quebec groups of the 70s, whose music has become timeless, achieved artistic and commercial success both in French in Quebec and in English Canada.

The trio, founded by Serge Fiori, Louis Valois and Michel Normandeau began in Montreal in 1973. He immediately carves out a place between the intimate ballads of chansonniers and the audacious sound of progressive rock of the time. The innovative sound design, mixing rock, folk and jazz quickly propelled them to the top of the charts. At the beginning of January 1974, Harmonium recorded their first album which, in just a few months, sold more than 100,000 copies.

The popularity of Harmonium constantly growing at an astonishing speed, small theaters and campuses, the group quickly finds itself on the biggest stages of the province such as La Place des Arts in Montreal. It all culminates in outdoor shows in front of crowds at times exceeding hundreds of thousands of people. Their success takes them to Toronto and Vancouver, California and Europe. Harmonium having become one of the most popular musical groups in Quebec, all their albums received multiple platinum certifications, and also became recipients of various honorary awards, several Felixes and even an induction into SOCAN, recognizing the importance of their work. For more than forty years, Harmonium's music has continued to inspire a multitude of artists such as Sylvain Cossette, Boom Desjardins, Eleanor McCain and Lawrence Gowan.

“Finding the original Harmonium tracks was pure joy and it gives even more meaning to “We brought someone into the world, maybe we should listen to them”. Serge Fiori.

“Spring 1974: driving my car, I hear “Pour un moment” on the radio for the first time. I stop dry on the edge of the street, completely turned upside down. "She is no longer ours, she belongs to the world now", I said to myself. I was so happy!” Michael Normandeau.

“Memory is important. It is with the greatest respect that we revisited this album. To give it a makeover while keeping its soul intact, this is the thought that followed me throughout our process. Louis Valois
