Details: Product Description Voisine, Roch Amazon.ca Over the years, Roch Voisine's music has evolved somewhat to target an adult audience rather than a teenage one. An entirely English-language album, Higher illustrates this evolution well with its acoustic ballads, lyrics that are as optimistic as they are conventional, and more rhythmic tracks, though never disruptive enough to alienate radio airplay. By sticking so closely to market demands and current trends, with its electronic beats and choruses that evoke a thousand others, Higher does not shine for its originality. But if the composer of "Hélène" opts for a well-trodden path with his American-style pop tinged with folk, one cannot blame him for not doing his job well. His songs are all the more polished because he managed to surround himself with an excellent team, notably studio veteran Peter John Vettese (Jethro Tull), producer-guitarist Marc Pérusse (Luc De Larochellière), Jeff Smallwood on six-string, and the London Session Orchestra. Higher thus remains an honest release that includes good passages, such as "Since You Left" and "Tears in my Coffee."
