Details: A family saga set against the social and political upheavals that marked Quebec in the 1960s and 1970s, Histoire de famille does not tell the story of a family going through "the quiet revolution", but rather that of “the revolution that passes through the family. It is through the look of a young woman of today, Julie Gagné, on the past of her family line revealed in a novel by Jean Calixa, that we discover the history of the Gagné family. The Gagné's lives changed dramatically in 1960 when Robert and May decided to sell their farm in the Eastern Townships to their eldest son, Pierre, to move to Montreal. Their youngest child suffering from leukemia, they get closer to the health services offered in Montreal to improve her chances of survival. While their little sister clings to life and her love affair with Jean Langelier, Isabelle dreams of freedom and emancipation while Michel seeks to confront his demons to become a man. The DVD includes the original French version with the option of English subtitles.
