Details: Amazon.ca True sources of inspiration, the ceilings of hotel rooms are so many blank pages for Stephan Eicher who admits that he particularly appreciates the intimate atmospheres of these places of transit. This is where he likes to compose and sometimes even record his albums. Behind these 19 titles that we take pleasure in listening to ("Lunch in peace", "How long", "No friends like you"…), a story. That of an artist who swaps his photo albums (he doesn't leave a hotel without having immortalized his room in photos) for a souvenir album. It is therefore no coincidence that the Swiss dandy chose to entitle this best of Hotel's; because this opus also pays homage to the Hess hotel in Engelberg, destroyed in the spring of 2001. Stephan Eicher lived there and wrote a large part of his repertoire. He also filmed the clip for "Elle venez me voir" – an unreleased single from this first compilation – during its destruction. If these chance rooms have inspired him so much and left him with many memories, it is because he always takes a little bit of them with him in his suitcases. --Valerie Dupouy
