Details: Product Description Fredric Gary Comeau Amazon.ca Like Daniel Lanois, this unclassifiable wandering Acadian, Fredric Gary Comeau, resists all comparisons, even if his influences—from Leonard Cohen to Nick Cave, by way of Jean-Louis Murat—place him immediately among the greats. Like them, he possesses a deep, dark voice that carries melancholy. His first album, Another Broken Lullaby, delighted critics but was a commercial failure. For the second, Hungry Ghosts, he secured the support of the Montreal label Audiogram and some heavy-hitting collaborators: Yves Desrosiers on production and guitars, François Lalonde on arrangements and drums, and Mara Tremblay on violin. From "Don't Kill the Messenger" to "Rainy Day in Istanbul," including "Drink" and "Drowning," the artist invites us on a journey to the heart of melancholy, with frequent stops in uncharted territories. For Fredric Gary Comeau is also a true poet who, in English but sometimes also in French ("Mirador"), uses words with boldness and sensitivity. --Pascale Millot
