Details: About the Artist Philippe has already won several important prizes such as the first prize of the Montreal International Musical Competition, Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions Competition in 2011, the Prix Jeune Soliste 2012 des Radios Francophones Publiques and the Brian Law Opera Scholarship in Ottawa in 2010. In the same year he was awarded a bursary from the Jacqueline Desmarais Foundation for Young Canadian Opera Singers. First published in 1823, a discrete echo of his lost loves, Heinrich Heine's collection Lyrisches Intermezzo is one of his most interesting works. It is hardly surprising, then, that Robert Schumann and Joseph-Guy-Marie Ropartz, both raised with a love of literature, would wish to set some of these gems to music. Also included on the album is Ravel's Don Quichotte à Dulcinée in the spirit of Heine's prosodic intro to the Intermezzo of poems.
