Details: Amazon.ca In the middle of producing their second album, the hip hop group Loco Locass was approached by the company Freeset for a multimedia project. This is how In Vivo was born: a kind of conceptual mini-album mixing reality and fiction, focusing on the pro-independence opinions of the group's members. In essence: in 2002, the Radical Mounted Police of Canada infiltrates the group's ranks. They clone the three rappers to create a federalist band that promotes Canadian unity, as evidenced by the English-language song "ROC rap." By inserting the CD into your computer's drive (PC only, Mac users need not apply), you can access the In Vivo folder, view the profiles of the three rappers, explore their memories, and watch videos of their shows or daily lives. An interactive music video, "Le Grand Rio," is also included: a tribute to the late Riopelle, it allows the user to manipulate the sound tracks. In total, the CD features half a dozen new compositions—including one that takes a fair swipe at Mario Dumont—and offers about two hours of audiovisual material. Very well produced and showcasing a polished aesthetic, this curious release will invariably entertain fans. --Nicolas Houle
