Amazon.ca Olivia Ruiz, former "Star Ac" contestant, has managed the feat of escaping the mold of romantic songs to impose her own melodies, which rock out and evoke the musette style of Têtes Raides. Bolstered by experience gained from the age of fifteen in the dance halls and guinguettes of her Carcassonne region, she arrives with a debut album with the provocative title "J'aime pas l'amour" (I Don't Like Love), a twelve-track record true to her musical inclinations. More than a year after the release of her first single "Paris," she enlisted Juliette, Philippe Prohom, Nery (ex-VRP), Chet, and Weepers Circus to build a repertoire of realist songs. Olivia Ruiz carves her path, marked out by Iso and Mitch (spotted with Les Rita Mitsouko), between the jazzy moods of the former (Juliette) and the hoarser chords of the latter (Prohom), the musical saw, and the accordion. Funny and tender. --Sabrina Silamo
