Amazon.ca With a 50-year career under his belt, Charles Aznavour has nothing left to prove and can afford to deliver a personal album. That is precisely what he did in 1998 with this Jazznavour, adapting some of his hits with a jazzy twist with the help of André Manoukian (Liane Foly) on production, and the collaboration of jazz heavyweights (Dianne Reeves, Jacky Terrasson, Pierre Drevet, Michel Petrucciani, Eddy Louiss and Richard Galliano) on the microphone. We find here hits from the 50s to the 70s: "J'aime Paris au mois de mai", "For me, formidable", including those that were not jazzy at all ("Mes emmerdes") and those that were downright psychedelic ("Les Plaisirs démodés") or even bluesy ("Tu t'laisses aller"). The result is simply magnificent. Note the song "She", a British hit for little Charles in the early 70s, used in 1999 on the soundtrack for Notting Hill. --J.- P. P. and Thierry Cadet
