Jouliks - DVD
Now 7 years old, Yanna was born of a free union between Vera the rebel and Zak the foreigner, two lonely souls that passion brought together by chance in their bohemian life. An old cabin with a permeable roof serves as their home, somewhere at the end of a country lane in the Eastern Townships. But in this Quebec of the late 60s, freedom is not well seen, especially on the part of the teacher from the neighboring school who demands to see the little one in his class as soon as the start of the school year begins. Zak categorically refuses, only wanting a free education for his daughter, far from state brainwashing.
Things get tough, however, when Véra receives her parents for her birthday. At odds with her mother, who has never digested her life choices, she finds very little comfort in her father, walled in silence. Unable to stand it any longer, Zak leaves to join his family in Toronto. He leaves Vera alone in the face of maternal reprimands. Faced with this world of adults with bizarre behavior, the little girl observes and reports on the tragic events that will soon occur.
