Details: Sonia Bergerac is a French teacher in a college in a disadvantaged suburb. She finds it hard to live with the daily harshness of relations with her students, and is all the more weakened by the departure of her husband. During a theatrical rehearsal, she discovers a gun in a student's bag. While trying to seize it, a blow goes off and injures a pupil in the leg. In the confusion of the moment, she breaks down and takes her class hostage. While outside, the school, police and political authorities are struggling to understand and react to the situation, Sonia imposes her vision and their contradictions on her students.
