Details: Product Description Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir Amazon.ca During the 1990s, the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir distinguished itself in Quebec and abroad, working with luminaries of pop and classical music. A cappella plus testifies well to the development of the ensemble: this album is both the occasion of a return to a cappella singing, which earned it success in 1992, and of an exploration of new musical lands by the through bold arrangements. "Kwa Unyenyekevu", with its African kora, thus evokes a Kenyan bazaar, "Great Day" immerses us in the middle of Shrove Tuesday with its street band from New Orleans, while "Elijah Rock" swings thanks to the double bass of Michael Donato. This alternation between a cappella pieces and lightly orchestrated tracks is very interesting and allows the MJGC to demonstrate all its versatility. Some soloists are not always convincing, but the whole is solid and manages, once again, to renew itself. -- Nicolas Houle
