Details: November 2006, three musicians find themselves in the back shop of a carpentry that the drummer has unearthed in Contrecoeur. The room is full of instruments of all kinds. Every week, they make a racket there. Sometimes they even record themselves for fun – on the tracks, in some places, you can even hear saws and hammering. Somewhere in 2008, the same three musicians meet at the entrance to a room that the drummer has reserved in Verdun. Over the course of the meetings, they realize that they have created several catchy melodies, and that they have the potential to become real pop rock songs. At the same time, the name We created a monster is suggested and adopted. The same year, with the help of their longtime friend, Renaud Bastien (Coeur de pirate, ex-Malajube), they recorded an EP. At the end of 2009, in a basement, four musicians are talking over a bottle of vino that the drummer has uncorked. The formation has grown: a guitarist with “punchy” fingers has joined the group. His arrival represents an important moment in the history of the formation. We created a monster is now a band in its own right and creation is at the center of its activities. During 2010, the four musicians and a label, Slam Disques, agreed on a collaboration. Following this agreement, several projects are on the table. In November, the quartet locked themselves away for two months at Studio Makina with Gabriel Aldama to record The Iceberg, their first full album. The mixing is left to Frank Joly. In the end, 12 titles are retained. After the release of the album in 2011, 3 music videos surfaced, each garnering strong rotation at Musique Plus; 5 songs appear in the charts in Quebec; and concerts are given at the Francofolies, the Rencontres de l'Adisq and, everywhere, on tour in Quebec. At the end of 2012, Oacum becomes a trio again and works on the composition of the album "Ladrift" which will be released on November 26, 2013.
