Details: Amazon.ca Written by Stéphane Bourguignon (Un peu de fatigue) and directed by Patrice Sauvé for Radio-Canada in the early 2000s, La Vie, la vie was an instant hit. It's that a whole generation recognized itself in this bittersweet, modern, innovative television series as much by its subject as by its rhythm and its images. La Vie, la vie is that of a group of five friends in their thirties whom we follow, over the course of 39 episodes, in their work, their loves, their existential crises, their financial and family setbacks. They all live in the Plateau Mont-Royal, the fashionable district of Montreal. Jacques (Vincent Graton) is a homosexual, owner of a bistro where the gang often meet. He broke up with Gilbert (Pierre Gendron) and is looking for a soul mate in a dating club. He has a sister, Marie (Julie McClemens), a notary who takes good care of her friends. With Simon (Patrick Labbé), a young executive in a multimedia company, she forms a happy couple. Claire (Macha Limonchik), a freelance journalist, is in love with the fickle Max (Stéphane Archambault). Finally, Vincent (Normand Daneau) shares his apartment with a Saint Bernard and works in a video club while waiting to write his first screenplay. In the second part, Marie is pregnant. Simon has a promotion. Vincent wrote his first screenplay. Jacques started seeing Gilbert again. And Claire has decided not to fall in love with the first handsome kid that comes along. Will Marie and Simon be able to continue to move forward side by side? Vincent and his producer, Ariane (Diane Lavallée), will they be able to keep a professional distance? Will Jacques and Gilbert manage to share the best and the worst? Will Claire be able to recognize the right companion? This is what we will discover in the third and last part, the time for assessments, exposures, courage too. The courage to be authentic and to let love speak. “Love… like a breath”. --Julie Sergent
