Details: Amazon.ca In the land of hockey and soap operas, the television series Spear and Count was incredibly successful in the late 80s and early 90s. Pierre Lambert (Carl Marotte) is a young and attractive 20-year-old hockey player, newly hired by the National, Quebec City's professional hockey team. But it's not an easy honor for number 13 and his team. Not only do you have to relentlessly put up with the coach's aggressiveness and derogatory remarks (a role that earned Yvan Ponton a Genie award), but also deal with life's little and big hassles. From the love affairs of star player Marc Gagnon (Marc Messier) to the unwelcome revelations of journalist Linda Hébert (Sylvie Bourque), to the racist reactions to Pierre Lambert's lover, Lucie Baptiste (France Zobda), games are played on the ice as well as in offices, kitchens and bedrooms. Director of the first series, Jean-Claude Lord (Les Colombes, Bingo) surrounded himself with valuable collaborators, including sports columnist Réjean Tremblay and writer Louis Caron, writing the dialogues and the screenplay. Réjean Tremblay participated in the writing of the following two series produced by Richard Martin. In 2002, a sequel to this classic of Quebec television, Lance et compte: La Nouvelle Génération also touched thousands of viewers. --Julie Sergeant
