Since 1148, a community of Cistercian monks has been praying and working at the Abbey of Sénanque, nestled in the hollow of its valley in Provence. Today the abbey remains rooted in the Cistercian tradition thanks to the monks who form the small community that lives there. Tens of thousands of visitors come to Sénanque every year, some for the beauty of the place, others to share the life of the community for a few days. The prayer sung by the brothers seven times a day is reflected in this disc, the first to be recorded by the community, and on which we will hear large extracts from the services of Lauds and Vespers on Sunday borrowed from the French repertoire of the abbey of Chevetogne.
