Details: Product Description Dumas Amazon.ca Le Cours des jours confirms what Dumas' first album suggested: this young singer-songwriter is one of the most promising voices of the new Quebec chanson scene. Like Yann Perreau or Ariane Moffatt, he has decided to follow his own path. The result is a melodic album where, even more than in his previous one, he asserts a mature and unique musical personality. Produced by Carl Bastien, mastermind behind Daniel Bélanger's Rêver mieux—to which it bears a distant stylistic resemblance—Le Cours des jours takes the listener on a soaring journey into the inner world of the 23-year-old artist. The airy melodies are carried by well-crafted acoustic guitar chords against a backdrop of psychedelic keyboards and throbbing rhythms. Dumas has refined his musical style, but as a lover of words and rhymes, he continues his search for a simple poetry capable of translating his slightly melancholy universe. His voice, sometimes almost thin, sometimes more sensual, sings of solitude ("Vénus") and breakups ("Linoléum"), desire ("Le Désir comme tel," written by Jérôme Minière, "Vision pornographique"), and love ("Arizona"). To be savored slowly and for a long time. --Pascale Millot
