Adapted from the novel The Wives of Bath, by Susan Swan, the screenplay by Judith Thompson does not avoid implausibilities and shortcuts, but the production by Léa Pool is impeccable. Since the early 1980s, the director of La Femme de l'hôtel and La Demoiselle sauvage has developed a very particular universe and language. Here, after the shift initiated with Take Me Away, she continues in a more accessible vein, leaving plenty of room for the plot, and obtaining exceptional performances from her young actresses. This is particularly the case of Piper Perabo, vibrant at will.
