Lydia Képinski was born in Montreal on June 1, 1993. Her Franco-Polish roots immersed her in the French chanson of Barbara, Brassens, and Gainsbourg from childhood. She studied classical piano before familiarizing herself with pop music and teaching herself guitar. Lydia presents all her facets on a debut four-track EP that sounds something like poetic, synthetic alternative pop.
Between rhythmic tracks and others with a rawer, more intimate character, Képinski does not mince her words. Her zany humor transcends lyrics charged with emotion and steeped in a beauty that is both dark and luminous.
Her clear yet brittle and fragile voice is punctuated by airy arrangements tinged with strings. Lydia fully embraces her affinity for pop culture while showcasing the ironic side that undeniably defines her. With the air of an eccentric young woman, the multi-instrumentalist does not hesitate to use her faux-candid, tragicomic, and sometimes acerbic language to create images. Grating images. Chiaroscuro images, without makeup.
Album tracks:
1. Les routes indolores
2. Premier juin
3. 360 jours
4. Maïa
5. Belmont
6. Les balançoires
7. Sur la mélamine
8. Pie-IX
