Details: Product Description Urbain, Desbois Amazon.ca As his name suggests, Urbain Desbois is a sort of modern-day Robin Hood who, with his unbridled ditties, strives to denounce injustice. Rather than stealing from the rich, he steals "quotes from everyone" to give birth, on this first album, Ma maison travaille plus que moi, to astonishing songs, a mix of rock, swing, blues, and even country. A true artist of the pun, Desbois lingers on describing everyday life in lyrics that, although rigorously crafted, avoid any pretension. In "Le Pain," the misery of work ("another day, another pain") is depicted with a skillful gaze, where humor always defuses the gravity: "alimentaire mon cher Weston" [elementary, my dear Weston]. An album as original as it is likable with its intentionally rough sounds, Ma maison travaille plus que moi brings together nearly 20 songs that all deserve to be heard. -- Nicolas Houle
