Details: An illegitimate child of Desjardins, Fersen, Hardy, and other pillars of French and Quebec chanson, Ingrid St-Pierre grew up soaking in their poetry. From a very young age, she developed a passion for words, knitting them together little by little, one stitch at a time, on the blue-lined pages of Canada notebooks originally intended for academic subjects. She would put her lyrics to the black and white of the family piano and compose her very first songs around the age of 17. Relying on the timeless piano-vocal duo, Ingrid follows in the footsteps of her idols while displaying a style all her own, wielding imagery-filled poetry that is by turns subtly humorous and simply refined. From stage to stage, from competitions to festivals, Ingrid has been quietly making her way, piano notes at her fingertips and her poetry on the tip of her tongue... A recipient of several awards and distinctions, she notably distinguished herself by winning the Secondaire, Cégep, and Université en spectacle series; a hat trick that earned her much praise. During her participation in the 2008 Ma première place des arts competition, the singer-songwriter was awarded the prestigious Richard Desjardins prize, highlighting the quality of her lyrics. At 24, Ingrid St-Pierre presents “Ma petite mam’zelle de chemin,” her first album produced in collaboration with Denis Savage, one of the most important mixers in Canada—recognized, among other things, for his work on stage and in the studio with Céline Dion—and with Dominique Messier, musician and producer; the two partners are also co-owners of Studio Piccolo in Montreal.
